C.C Sabathia leads the Majors in wins after his victory last night against Cleveland, an impressive stat that usually guarantees a pitcher a spot on the All-Star Roster.However, Sabathia was not selected to represent the American League squad at this year's All-Star game. Wait, what?
No, none of that. He plans a trip to the Bahamas with his family to enjoy his mini 3 day vacation.
"I believe CC is an All-Star; he's had a great first half," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "I've been in that situation. It's a tough situation when you're having to pick players from every team. But I think CC -- and, I believe, David Robertson -- are two All-Stars."
Despite all of the controversy surrounding Yankee players not making the midsummer classic, New York was able to beat up on Cleveland 9-2.
Granderson provided the offensive spark as he slugged 2 homers to give him 25 on the season. He is now tied with teammate Mark Teixeira for the second most in the American League.
"Each year has always been different," Granderson said. "It's just one of those things that this year has been different than last year. They're just coming a little bit quicker than they have in the past."
Derek Jeter also recorded two hits and RBI's in his second game back from the DL. This now puts the Yankee captain only 4 hits away from the illustrious 3,000 Hit Club.
"I felt better today," Jeter said. "It's always good when you get the first [hit] out of the way. You feel like it's Opening Day all over again. Once you get the first one out of the way, I could relax a little bit."
