Brenda Fox is a busy woman. A store manager at CVS, a mother of two and a fundraiser.
For the past four years, Brenda has worked to raise awareness and money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
“I want people to know about cystic fibrosis. There is no cure for it,” she explained.
She is so passionate about education because her two children, Lucas, 9, and Hannah, 6, both have the disease.
Brenda says the odds of both being diagnosed are very rare. “We have a better chance of winning the lottery than having two children with cystic fibrosis.”
Now, Brenda is using her role at CVS to make a difference in the fight against the disease. She is the co-chair spokesperson for the company’s ‘Medical Advancing Research’ program, a donation drive aimed at raising money for cystic fibrosis research.
This year, the effort raised more than $2.5 million for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
“All the money that's raised is through donations,” Brenda said. “It's not through government assistance. It's all about the donations for research.”
Brenda hopes that research will grant her biggest wish.
“I want my kids to outlive me and for me not to outlive them. For me, that's my biggest thing."
The donation drive is just one way Brenda is trying to raise money.
Her husband is a teacher and coach at Franklin Central High School. The club wrestling team there is hosting a golf outing to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It’s scheduled for Sunday, September 30th, at Smock Golf Course.
