Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion following a 3-alarm field fire on the city's west side.
Fire broke out just before 6 p.m. at the Eagle Creek Airpark.
Officials completely closed the airport due to the heavy smoke. Officials also shut down 38th Street near Interstate 465 for several hours.
Wayne, Pike and Indianapolis Fire Departments worked to defend airport hangars and surrounding homes. Officials also called in tanker trucks from Pittsboro to help extinguish the flames.
The fire was exstinguished a little before 7:30 p.m.
The injured fire fighters are expected to recover.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
