Lindsey Gipson, 24, was charged with failure to stop after an accident resulting in death, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a child present, identity deception, driving while suspended and false informing.
According to the probable cause affidavit, witnesses said Gipson got out of her vehicle to check on Arthur’s condition but quickly left the area. Officers were able to locate Gipson, who was parked near the scene. Police said Gipson initially gave the officers a different name, which they said was the name of Gipson’s friend. Additionally, police said Gipson gave a different name for her young daughter, who was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
A witness on the scene told police Gipson put something in her mouth shortly after the crash. When questioned about this, Gipson told the officers she had taken two suboxone, a drug used to treat opiate addiction.
The officers administered three field sobriety tests, which they said Gipson failed. Gipson was transported to Wishard Hospital to undergo a blood test and was later arrested in connection with the crash.
Arthur was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition, suffering from head, leg and internal injuries. He was pronounced dead the following morning due to blunt force trauma to the head and body.
