Very cold air widespread over Alaska today.  Record lows have been set the last couple mornings for areas of the Interior (as cold as 54 below at Manley Hot Springs).  A large dome of high pressure is responsible for the dry and cold air mass.  It will gradually weaken and drift into Canada this weekend, but, until then, expect more dry and cold weather for the bulk of the state.

As far as precipitation goes, there is some out there.  A low over the Bering is being blocked by the mainland high, but the associated front has pulled into Southwest Alaska, bringing with it bands of snow.  Accumulations of 1 to 3 inches is possible from the Y-K Delta south into Bristol Bay.  Kodiak could also see light accumulations.

The front is moving into a dry, suppressive air mass so nothing more than thin clouds are expected in Southcentral.

Anchorage will top out anywhere from 5 to 13 today.  Lows from 5 below to 5 above.

Have a warm and safe weekend!
