2011-12 became the snowiest winter in Anchorage in recorded history on Saturday. By Sunday, the sun was back out. And that's just where it will stay all week.
Weak high pressure will suppress clouds over the Interior, Southcentral, and northern Panhandle today. Highs will range from the 40s to 50s. Juneau could be as warm as 60 degrees. A few areas of patchy low clouds and fog, especially near the coast, and wispy high clouds through the afternoon are the only threats to unbridled sunshine.
Clouds and isolated rain showers will move over the central and southern Panhandle this morning. Periods of sun are likely by the afternoon.
Wet and snowy weather remains over western Alaska. Snow and rain will mix from King Salmon to Kodiak with highs in the mid to upper 30s. Snow, and an additional inch or two, is possible this morning in Bethel. Temps will stay in the 30s along the west coast as cool air behind a stalling front over the west settles in for the next couple days. As the front deteriorates later, snow will diminish this afternoon around Norton and Kotzebue Sound.
The Aleutians are in for gray skies and rain and snow and 30s for highs. Winds will become gusty near Dutch Harbor---45 mph gusts are possible by evening.
