Record cold over the Interior and Southcentral since last week is here to stay for another week. Another blast of arctic air will reinforce cold air already in place. Under the gun this time around is the West, where temps will be significantly colder all week. The Bethel area could see wind chills drop to 40 below with north winds to 25 mph.
Southeast will see rain and snow as a low pressure system remains over the Gulf. This low will strengthen tonight, move northward into PWS, and sit through Wednesday. Thus, snow will become likely over Southcnetral tonight and continue into midweek over PWS.
Winds will also become strong along the Inlet and channeled terrain of PWS. There are multiple Blizzard Watches and Warnings and Wind Chill Advisories posted.
There is little relief in sight. Cold temps will stay through the Thanksgiving Holiday. However, drier conditions will prevail in Anchorage starting Wednesday.
