ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services is reporting one new death related to COVID-19 in the state, bringing the state total to 23 deaths.

Here is a breakdown of where each of the 23 deaths was recorded:

  • Anchorage (10)
  • Anchorage Point (2)
  • Fairbanks (4)
  • North Pole (1)
  • Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area (1)
  • Wasilla (2)
  • Juneau (2)
  • Petersburg (1)

DHSS announced 84 new COVID-19 cases in the state on Thursday.

Of the cases, 42 were in Municipality of Anchorage, six in the Fairbanks North Star Borough, five in the Kenai Peninsula Borough, two in Juneau, 13 cases in the Mat-Su Borough, one in Bethel, nine in the Northwest Arctic Borough, one in the Aleutians West Census Area and one in the Yakutat pulse Honnah-Angoon area.

The total case count in Alaska is 3,559. This means 2,878 Alaskans have tested positive for COVID-19 while 681 nonresidents have tested positive.

There are currently 1,970 active cases of the virus, with recovered cases at 885. DHSS says total hospitalizations are at 128 with 37 people currently in the hospital with COVID-19 or who are under investigation.
