Leroy Polk was born in Alaska, and grew up between the last frontier and the land down under, in Western Australia.
In Alaska, he attended high school, and studied writing at the University of Alaska Anchorage. There, he graduated with a degree in English.
During school, Leroy worked in print news as a writer and editor, and in radio as an underwriting coordinator, also hosting a semi-popular weekly FM radio show. He has been published in several local news outlets.
After college, he moved a world away to teach English, in both a Japanese high school and a South Korean middle school for several years.
Returning to Alaska, Leroy also returned to journalism. Hired at KTUU in 2016, Leroy began as a producer of the Late Edition and the 5:00 Report, as well as manning the assignment desk.
Leroy currently works as a reporter and digital producer, breaking news early in the morning and producing content for the station’s website and social media platforms.
In this role, Leroy continues to produce original reporting and explore alternative storytelling methods through digital media.
In his free time, Leroy loves writing, riding (and, more often than not, repairing) his beloved racing bicycle, and traveling the world when he can.
