Lex Treinen joined the KTUU Digital team in June 2019 as a Digital Reporter/Producer.
Lex grew up in downtown Anchorage and graduated from West High School. He studied Russian at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and cross-country skied professionally after college. While completing a Masters in Arctic Studies at UAF, Lex had the opportunity to follow the Yukon Quest for Alaska Public Radio and that's when he got hooked on reporting as a profession.
Lex has also worked as a substitute teacher and is proud to say his work experience includes a string of "odd jobs" throughout Alaska, with stints in Utqiagvik, the Pribilof Islands and Nome. He hopes to have the opportunity to travel back to all of them.
Lex loves the craft of storytelling and writing community-focused stories, and he likes to think he has the ability to take a complex topic and turn the details into a story that anyone can understand - and he appreciates the challenge.
If you have a story you'd like to pitch to Lex, he can be reached via email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
