Charlie Sokaitis returned to KTUU in July of 2019 in a brand new role, switching from Sports to Morning Edition Anchor/Producer.
Charlie spent the previous four years as Sports Director at WGBA in Wisconsin, where his main task was covering the Green Bay Packers football team.
Though he's lived in seven different states around the country, Charlie has called Alaska home for the majority of his life. His father, Al Sokaitis, was the head men's basketball coach at the University of Alaska Fairbanks during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Charlie is graduate of UAF, though his own abilities on the basketball court were limited to the on-campus rec center.
Charlie first joined the Channel 2 News team in 2007 as KTUU's weekend sports anchor/reporter. Over the ensuing seven years, he covered everything from the WEIO games, to the Iditarod sled dog race, and even the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Charlie is approaching his new post as Morning Edition Co-Anchor with great zeal and excitement as he looks to reconnect with and inform community members and news viewers across Alaska on a daily basis.
