Anchorage police say 34-year-old Jesse Zaugg has been identified as the driver who was killed in a head-on collision Saturday near mile 101 of the Seward Highway.

Anchorage Police say a man has died after a head-on crash overnight on the Seward Highway.

The crash took place just after midnight Saturday, closing parts of the road in both directions for hours.

APD says the man was driving a Volvo Station Wagon heading south while a Chrysler 200 headed north. The Volvo driver apparently crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting the Chrysler head-on.

The driver of the Volvo died on-scene, say police. The driver and passenger of the Chrysler were both taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say it is not currently not known whether speed, alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

The road reopened around 6:30 a.m.
