ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - March is Sobriety Awareness month and several restaurants are making it so you can still enjoy a night out and not drink. The movement was signed into law last year.
Whether it's a lifelong commitment, a month, a weekend or just one night, the movement encourages others to recognize those making a sober choice. Recover Alaska Executive Director Tiffany Hall is 9 years sober. She said the choice to get there didn't happen overnight, but celebrating alcohol-free is easier than you might think. For someone to make that decision can come from a lot of different reasons.
"Whether it's religious, whether they never started drinking to begin with or whether they're just testing it out, it's just a really nice time to honor that healthy lifestyle choice," she said.
The St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl is Saturday, March 16, 2019. It starts at 7:00 p.m. and goes until bar close.
There are eight participating restaurants and bars in Anchorage serving "mocktails," alcohol-free cocktails. They are Whale's Tail, Pioneer Bar, Gaslight Lounge, 49th State Brewing Co., Avenue Bar, Williwaw, McGinley's and Fletcher's.
