Power goes out for 2,800 in East Anchorage after vehicle crash

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Update (5:54 p.m.):

As of 5:45 ML&P says all customers in the affected area should now have power. ML&P is asking anyone still without power to contact the dispatch center at (907) 279-7671.

According to Municipal Light and Power, a crash shortly before 3:30 Saturday caused an estimated 2,800 customers in East Anchorage to lose power around Bragaw and the Glenn Highway.

ML&P says a line crew is working on troubleshooting and restoring customers.

According to ML&P the outage was caused by a car striking a switch cabinet. The area around working crews is taped off.

Traffic lights are reported to be out. Drivers are required to treat intersections where traffic lights are out as four-way stops.
