ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Anchorage Police arrested a man accused of hitting a woman he dated near Dowling Road and Norm Drive, stopping and picking her up, then driving off with her.

Police say this happened Wednesday night around 6:43 p.m.

APD says when officers arrived on scene they were unable to find either the woman or involved vehicle.

Multiple citizens were pulled over and waved down the officers. They told police that a male driving a dark gray SUV had struck a female pedestrian who was standing on or near the curb of the roadway. The suspect vehicle was last seen driving on Doil Drive.

Moments later police found the vehicle parked in front of a residence on the 3200-block of Doil Drive. A male matching the suspect's description was standing in the driveway and an adult female with a head laceration was lying on the front passenger seat inside the SUV.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she was treated for her non-life-threatening head wound. The driver, 42-year-old Roger D. Moen Jr., was transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives. He was then taken to the Anchorage Jail, and now faces charges including Assault.

Police say the events that led to Moen hitting the victim with his vehicle are still under investigation.
