ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - An officer was hospitalized Sunday with non-life threatening injuries after a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Lake Otis and Northern Lights Blvd.
According to Anchorage police, the crash happened at around 2:30 p.m. when the officer reportedly stopped for a red light at the intersection when he received a call for service.
The officer then turned on his emergency lights and siren and began going through the intersection one lane at a time, police said.
“All eastbound traffic stopped for the officer," according to a Nixle alert. “As the patrol officer began going through the westbound lanes, a Dodge pickup being driven westbound struck the patrol vehicle on its passenger side. The pickup did have the green light.”
The Anchorage Police Department said the officer and the other driver were the only ones in their vehicles.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
