ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — Anchorage Police have named a second suspect in a June burglary that ended when the homeowner shot and killed one of the attempted burglars.
Detectives are now searching for 41-year old Nathan Mattie, who is wanted on manslaughter and burglary charges.
On June 18, police were called to a home on the 6000 block of Austin St. near Dowling Road in response to reports of a shooting.
There, two men were found shot — one was dead.
Police identified the man who was killed as 48-year old Geoffrey Sorden. The other man who was shot, the homeowner, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Another man — 41-year old Jason E. Premo, was identified as a suspect in August, believed to be the third person in the room when the shooting started, and to have left before police arrived.
Premo was arrested on Aug. 20 after running from police and crashing a car, charged with manslaughter.
After Premo's arrest, police said they believe Premo and Sorden entered the Austin St. home and got into a fight with the homeowner, when Sorden allegedly shot the homeowner. The homeowner fired back, killing Sorden, and Premo fled the scene, according to APD.
Now, police say Premo and Sorden were sent to that residence to rob the homeowner by Mattie, the man currently being sought.
He is described as 6'1" tall and weighs 210 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information regarding his location is asked to call 911 or 561-STOP to remain anonymous.
