ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — The Anchorage School District and Anchorage Education Association have reached a tentative agreement for a three-year contract extending through 2021 according to a statement released by ASD late Wednesday night.

According to that statement, the agreement extends teacher contracts through June 30, 2021.

Details on the agreement are scant, with further information expected to be revealed at a joint press conference to take place at a yet undetermined time.

“AEA members are committed to working with the District to provide an excellent education for all of our students. This agreement will allow us to focus on that core mission together,” AEA President Tom Klaameyer said in a joint statement.

“I appreciate the dedication of every teacher and employee in AEA,” said Dr. Deena Bishop, ASD Superintendent. “The heart of our classrooms resides with our teachers and this Tentative Agreement allows them and the District to move forward to achieve positive outcomes for our students.”

This is a developing story.
