UPDATE: Mother and daughter killed in Kenai, Search for suspect underway

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — Update July 22 (5:45 p.m.):
The Kenai Police Department has released the names of the two people killed over the weekend.

Police say 39-year-old Lisa M. Rutzebeck of Kenai and 60-year-old Rachelle M. Armstrong of Kenai were killed on California Avenue.

Rachelle Armstrong is the mother of Lisa Rutzebeck.

There is no word on a suspect at this time.

Update July 21 (5:45 p.m.):

Police say there appears to be some association between a possible suspect and the victims. The crime occurred inside the residence, and the victims are related according to police. The victim's names will be released after next of kin are notified.

Original story July 21 (1:41 p.m.):

Two women were discovered fatally shot at a residence on California Avenue in Kenai Sunday morning.

According to a release from the Kenai Police Department Sunday afternoon, a suspect described as a "heavy set black male" in a gray hoodie and orange cap fled the scene of the shooting sometime in the early morning hours.

KPD says the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information, including surveillance video, is asked to contact KPD at 907-283-7879.

The identities of the victims have not been released.
