ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — Two people reportedly survived after their aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff on Nunivak Island on Saturday night.

According to an Alaska State Trooper Dispatch, the crash on Nunivak Island was reported to Troopers at 10:22 p.m. Saturday after an SOS beacon was activated.

Troopers say two people were on board the aircraft when it crashed shortly after takeoff.

Neither the pilot or passenger were injured, and both reportedly had survival gear to make it through the night.

It's unclear if the two individuals have yet been recovered.

Troopers in Bethel declined to provide information about the search and rescue.
