Alaska markets and festivals set to start opening May 11

ANCHORAGE, (KTUU) - Spring has sprung and summer is on it's way. With the warmer weather come summer markets and fairs.

The Anchorage Market is set to open it's gates on Saturday, May 11. The market will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and ends September 8.

The Little Norway Festival in Petersburg will call Vikings and Valkyries from across the state May 16 through 19 to celebrate Southeast Alaskan life.

The 2019 Bear Paw Festival kicks off in Eagle River on July 10. There will be food, rides, live music, pageants and parades.

On the Kenai Peninsula, Salmonfest goers can expect 3 days of fish, music, and fun. Running August 2 through August 4. Jason Mraz and Ani DiFranco are headlining that festival.

In August, the Alaska State Fair begins. The 10-day event will feature concert acts like Dustin Lynch and Shinedown.
