ANCHORAGE, (KTUU) - The Alaska Division of Forestry says crews are still trying to corral an 80-acre wildfire burning near the Klutina River south of Glennallen.
On akfireinfo.com , containment wasn’t listed.
The fire was called in at 7:10 p.m. Monday by local residents who reported a large fire growing near 16 Mile Klutina Lake Road. A helicopter, air attack plane and three air tankers responded.
Because of limited visibility caused by smoke, water-scooping aircraft were not able to work on the fire Tuesday but three helicopters, including two Blackhawks from the Alaska Army National Guard, were used to drop water on the fire.
Wednesday, Alaska DOF says crews will be setting up pumps and laying hose on the north end of the fire to get water on that piece of the fire.
