GOMS, Switzerland- In the final day of the World Junior Championships, the U.S. World Junior’s relay team, made up of three Alaskan skiers, took second place.

This is the first time ever an American team has placed this high at the championship. Anchorage skiers Luke Jager, Hunter Wonders, and Gus Schumacher were on the silver medal relay team.

Jager was a part of the scramble leg, Wonders took the freestyle leg and Schumacher had an incredible anchor leg making up two positions to cross the finish line in second.

This success comes on the heels of 11 Alaskan skiers qualifying for the 2018 Olympics in South Korea, which begins on Friday night.
