ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Monday’s high temperature at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport reached 76 degrees as of 7 p.m. which makes it the 19th time this summer the high has hit 75 degrees or warmer.
According to the NWS Anchorage twitter feed, other notable years where Anchorage has broken the 75 degree mark include:
2015: 15 times
2004: 14 times
2013: 13 times
1993: 12 times.
Fairbanks is also beating the trend. The high temperature Monday reached 80 degrees. That’s the 12th time this summer to hit or exceed 80 degrees.
Temperatures in Anchorage are expected to cool over the next seven days, but Fairbanks will likely break the 80 degree mark on Tuesday as well.
