ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A 38-year-old Anchorage man was found guilty Wednesday of burglary, assault, and criminal mischief in connection to an April 2019 domestic violence incident.

Ernest W. Butler was convicted by an Anchorage jury after evidence was presented at trial showing he attacked the mother of two of his kids on April 25, 2019.

The Department of Law says Butler broke down a locked door to an apartment belonging to the mother of two of his young children while she and both children were inside.

Evidence presented in court demonstrated that Butler squeezed the victim’s throat with one hand while placing the other hand over her face and mouth until she could not breathe before leaving the apartment.

Butler is scheduled to be sentenced in June.

He faces as much as 26 years in prison for all four counts.
