ANCHORAGE (KTUU) Police are asking for help finding a South Anchorage man who has dementia and has not been seen since early Tuesday.

According to the Anchorage Police Department, 69-year-old Steven Shumacher was last seen around 9 a.m. on the 2600 block of Bryant Circle near Lake Otis Parkway.

"There is concern for Steven's well-being as he suffers from dementia and is new to the area," police wrote in a news release. "Steven is on foot and walks very quickly so he is able to cover a long distance in a short period of time."

Shumacher is 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, and has short gray hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing gray sweats, a gray T-shirt, and a black military type hat possibly with the word "veteran" on it.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call APD dispatch at 907-786-8900.
