UPDATE: FBI releases photo of alleged suspect in Saturday's bank robbery

The FBI released the image of the suspect they believe robbed the Credit Union 1 Bank on Debarr Rd. Saturday.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Update 10:30 p.m.:

The FBI has taken over investigation into a robbery at the Credit Union 1 Bank on Debarr. Rd. on Saturday. Late Saturday evening, they released a photo of who they believe to be the suspect.

The photo shows the alleged suspect, who appears to be male, wearing a mask and a Seattle Seahawks sweatshirt as he robs the bank. FBI Special Agent Steve Forrest says they think the suspect is African American, judging by the color of his hands.

Forrest says the suspect was armed with a handgun, which he fired into the ceiling during the robbery. The man allegedly fled after taking money from several tellers.

The FBI encourages anyone with information related to this robbery to call the FBI at 907-276-4441, or APD dispatch at 907-786-8900.

Update 7:26 p.m.:

SWAT has left the scene and the roads have opened back up.

SWAT officers have responded to the Credit Union 1 on Debarr Road after reports of a robbery.

The call came in at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. There's a large police presence and temporary road closures in the area of Muldoon Road and Boundary Avenue as police search for a bank robbery suspect.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area as they continue to search for the suspect. Anchorage Police say depending on the actions of the suspect, their response may include a variety of tools and tactics to apprehend him.

This could potentially include deploying gas. Nearby citizens with respiratory illnesses or sensitivities are encouraged to remain inside with doors and windows closed.
