Anchorage prepares for New Year's Eve celebration
Anchorage is preparing for New Year's Eve celebrations with plenty of events unique enough for Anchorage's unique spirit. Here's a short selection of some of the biggest - and most interesting - attractions.
Join the Anchorage Downtown Partnership, for their annual New Year's Eve celebration at the event's new location at the Easy Park Chinook Lot at the corner of 3rd Ave & E Street (the site of the Anchorage Downtown Market during the summer). The event is free to attend with live performances, food trucks, a beer garden, and carnival games. The event starts at 5 p.m. and fireworks start at 8 p.m. However, high winds could affect the firework show so check back on KTUU for updates.
Want a different way to usher in the New Year? How about starting out on your New Year's resolution early, with a five-kilometer run that brings out all the fun! With lights and music throughout the course, the Resolution Run is sure to inspire you to keep running throughout 2020., The event starts at 6 p.m. at APU's Atwood Center.
Looking for a scenic was to experience the New Year? The 49th State Brewing's event, New Year's on the Roof, has sold out its event in the days prior to New Year's.
Thinking of going out to the bar tonight? How about three? You can join Humpy's, Flattop and SubZero for a New Year's Eve pub crawl with live music at each one. $10 will cover you for all three pubs!
Williwaw Social will have its New Year's Eve 2020 Experience starting at 7 p.m. Live performances will go throughout the night. Admission is $20.
Hard Rock Cafe will be celebrating the New Year's with live music from Anchorage's Jangle Bees starting at 9 p.m. and lasting until midnight.
Want a kid-friendly dance party with Anchorage's one-and-only DJ Spencer Lee. Even if the kids aren't into dancing, there's plenty of other activities, crafts, and fun! The event starts at 11 a.m. at the Loussac Library.
Another kid-friendly event that can help you bounce into 2020! $18 will get you in for a noisemaker crafts, a juice toast, and a balloon drop at noon - not to mention access to the whole trampoline park.
