Grand Prix slopestyle final stands between Stassel and South Korea

MAMMOTH, Calif. Anchorage’s Ryan Stassel took second place Wednesday at a U.S. Grand Prix slopestyle competition at Mammoth Mountain.

This result means Stassel will move on to the slopestyle finals at 12:00 p.m. Saturday on KTUU (NBC).

Saturday will be Stassel's last chance to qualify for the 2018 Olympics. The 25-year-old snowboarder is looking to make the final two spots left on the U.S. Olympic Slopestyle/Big Air team.

Currently, Stassel is tied in 3rd with Chandler Hunt at 1,400 points in the U.S. selection standings. Hunt barely qualified for the finals Wednesday, finishing in 10th.

Along with Hunt, fellow American snowboarders Kyle Mack, who took 4th in the qualifier, and Brock Crouch, will all be competing in the finals Saturday.

Make sure to tune into KTUU Saturday, and find out if Stassel makes the Olympic team.
