ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Two different airlines are offering new, direct routes to two different U.S. cities, which will be available out of Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport this summer.
According to a news release from Las Vegas-based discount airline Allegiant, a nonstop flight to Bellingham, Washington, will be available beginning on May 22.
A separate release from Sun Country Airlines stated that a nonstop flight to Las Vegas, Nevada will start May 29 for Wednesdays, and June 5 for Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, expanding access to the direct trip.
Allegiant said to celebrate the Bellingham direct flight, discount-price fares starting at $59 (a one-way ticket).
“We’re sure folks in the Bellingham area will be thrilled to take advantage of these convenient, ultra-low-cost flights to enjoy all that this beautiful region has to offer," said Drew Wells, Allegiant vice president of planning and revenue.
As for Sun Country, there was no tentative price point for the Las Vegas nonstop flights, but the company issued a statement calling Vegas a "strategic market for Anchorage."
"Nonstop flights stimulate growth and this new route will help continue the growth we saw last summer," said Jim Szczesniak, manager of Ted Stevens.
