UPDATE: Bethel Police locate man wanted on sex assault charge

BETHEL, Alaska (KTUU) - Update - 11:30 a.m.:
At approximately 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Pius Anthony Joe turned himself in to authorities, according to the Bethel Police Department.

He was sent to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center, under a felony arrest warrant.

Original Story - 7:48 a.m.:
Bethel police are searching for a man wanted on a $50,000 warrant for first degree sexual assault and second degree assault.

KYUK Public Media reports that 33-year-old Pius Anthony Joe is accused of assaulting a woman inside and abandoned house. The woman is now safe, according to police.

According to online court records, the alleged offenses were committed on June 28. Police say Joe was last seen in Bethel, but they are following up on reports that he may be in Mountain Village.

“If you know where Joe is please call us immediately,” BPD wrote in Facebook post. “For your safety, please do not approach him or confront him.”
