ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Despite the windy conditions, it was a busy day at the opening of the Anchorage Market Saturday.
Vendors were holding down their tents as the music played and people wandered around shopping handmade souvenirs and enjoying local flavors. Some folks even stopped by to get a little last minute mother's day shopping in. New this year, Flora Chu, owner of Hong Kong Street Food, brings dishes from the streets of China to the streets of Anchorage.
"In Alaska, there's not to much really good Chinese food," said Chu. "Most is American style. We always do real Chinese food in our house, so I want to bring some here to introduce for other people."
More than 300 vendors are set up this year. The market is located on 3rd Avenue downtown. It's open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
