ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Lending a hand for those choosing pedal power to move their bikes —the bike rodeo was a chance for students to test their skills and gear up for the season.
Nationally recognized, Bike to School day is scheduled for Wednesday. Anchorage organizers shared a few tips for drivers and bikers preparing to share the roads. "Make sure you're wearing bright clothing, reflective clothing so drivers can see you if its in the morning or still dark out. Drivers make sure you're looking out for bikers especially on Wednesday. There's going to be hundreds of kids out," Kim Resheske said.
Resheske is the local coordinator for the event and an advocate for family biking. "Biking is a great way to get exercise, to enjoy the fresh air," she said, "It's a great way to conserve on our natural resources and use clean energy instead of our cars."
Similar event, bike to work day is slated for Friday, May 18.
