Update: Saturday, Dec. 7:

Anchorage Police have identified the victim as 27-year-old Lanycha Zimmer.

Zimmer's family has been notified.

Police say that a body found inside a parked vehicle on the 500-block of Sitka Street is being investigated as a homicide.

The body was reported around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Police say that a preliminary investigation found an adult female who sustained trauma to her body, but that the type of trauma is still being investigated. Police say that the body was transported to the medical examiner to determine the exact cause of death.

The vehicle, a grey 2008 Mazda 6, had been reported stolen on Wednesday.

The identity of the victim hasn't been released.

A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that the body was found on Friday. It was found around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
