Burglars level shotgun at head of Spenard-area hotel clerk, elude capture

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - A front desk clerk of a Spenard-area hotel came face to face with the barrel of a shotgun Thursday night, in what police described as a robbery of the business.

The two burglars were reportedly attempting to remove or open the register of the Long House Alaskan Hotel on the 4300 block of Wisconsin. The clerk disturbed this, and was immediately threatened with a gun, police said Friday.

The robbery attempt was not successful, according to MJ Thim, spokesperson for APD. The thieves were unable to take the register or its contents, fleeing just after 8 p.m.

The clerk, who was threatened with the firearm, ran away from the area and called 911, Thim said.

According to Thim, no description of the two individuals was available to share on Friday, however he did say police were reviewing video surveillance of the hotel.

This hotel is the same hotel where, earlier this month, three people were found dead in an idling vehicle parked outside.
