Carrs returns to Midtown Mall
A brand-new Carrs grocery store will be opening at the Midtown Mall on Wednesday at 8 a.m.
Some of the features include a Kaladi Brothers coffee kiosk, Alaska Grown produce, a deli where customers will be able to order pho, sushi, poke bowls, wok meals, salads and more.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, where there will be free face painting, balloon art, and live music. Vendors will also be giving out samplings of food.
About 135 employees are employed at the store.
“It takes a lot of work from all our help,” Lee Darling, the store director said on opening day. “It comes together quickly.”
Employees were working until the last moment, stocking produce and meat, making sure everything was ready for customers.
“There has been a lot of need to come back in Midtown,” Darling said. “A lot of customer response is that they are really looking forward to having us back in Midtown.”
