ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - A Chugiak man who impregnated a 15-year-old when he was 27 in Oregon was sentenced to 9 months for failing to register as a sex offender after he moved to Alaska.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, Phillips was convicted of the Oregon offense in 2010, and was required under federal law to register as a sex offender for a period of 15 years.

The last time he registered was in Oregon in 2015. Shortly thereafter, he fled an Oregon arrest warrant and moved to Alaska.

According to the US Attorney for Alaska, an Oregon law enforcement officer who suspected Phillips had moved to Alaska, contacted the Alaska Sex Offender Registry office and reported that Phillips was not in compliance.
