KOTZEBUE, Alaska (KTUU) — Friends and family of Ashley Johnson-Barr, the young 10-year-old girl whose body was found in Kotzebue, are preparing for her funeral on Saturday.
A community organizer and spokesperson for the family told Channel 2 news that community volunteers and the National Parks Service set up flowers around the stage Friday night.
“We have paintings of angels going up and we are just making the preparations for the family and for Ashley to arrive tomorrow,” community organizer Maija Lukin said.
Lukin added that while the event is tragic, volunteers are honored to help.
“There was organization all over the country donating their services,” she said.
Ashley Johnson Barr scheduled funeral will take place Saturday afternoon in Kotzebue.
