'Meet the World' event brings countries and culture together

ANCHORAGE,Alaska (KTUU) - With more than 100 languages spoken in the Anchorage School District, one organization is on a mission to connect the city's diverse communities with each other and Alaskans across the state.

The annual Bridge Builders of Anchorage's "meet the world" event showcased traditional clothing, music, market items and dances from the countries many Anchorage residents have family ties with. "The idea is if we can build a community of friends, than we would be able to have a city that was welcoming and inclusive and to be a better safer place for all of Anchorage," Lo Crawford, Board President for Bridge Builders of Anchorage said.

Organizers say the event grows each year and one of the greatest things about Anchorage is how Alaskans don't have to travel out of the state to learn about other countries.
