The trips, contracted by Allen Marine, are scheduled to leave Auke Bay on Feb. 29 and March 3. Passengers will have an 80-pound luggage limit.

DOT announced that the sailings would stop at communities that have struggled without ferry service. Both sailings have the same schedules:

Juneau – Allen Marine Dock, 13391 Glacier Hwy
Departure 7:00 am

Kake – OVK Dock
Arrival 12:00 pm
Departure 12:30 pm

Angoon – Seaplane float
Arrival 3:15 pm
Departure 3:45 pm

Tenakee – Seaplane float
Arrival 5:15 pm
Departure 5:45 pm

Juneau – Allen Marine Dock
Arrival 7:45 pm

DOT advises that interested passengers book early at the Alaska Marine Highway System’s website.

Calls to department officials about the cost of the sailings were not returned.

Ferry service for most of Southeast Alaska has ground to halt with the state’s ferries either undergoing repairs or in an annual overhaul.
