An incident late Tuesday night on 15th and Minnesota that left a motorcyclist dead has now been ruled a homicide by detectives with the APD.

After releasing the preliminary details of the accident this morning, APD put out notice for other information about a stolen 2004 dark-colored Chevrolet Tahoe.

In an update Wednesday afternoon, APD revealed that the Tahoe had been stolen from the Port of Anchorage last night. Investigators say the Tahoe pursued a white and green motorcycle. The rider was then found dead in the road at Minnesota and 15th, in front of the L Street flower garden. At this time, it is unclear how the motorcyclist was killed.

The vehicle then dropped down Minnesota and continued up the off-ramp towards West High School on Hillcrest Drive. The vehicle was eventually found abandoned in Turnagain by Lynn-Ary Park.

Police are asking for any surveillance video from the Port of Anchorage, near the scene of the accident, or by Lynn-Ary Park. They are asked to call 311 or Crime Stoppers for anonymous tips at 907-561-STOP.

The victim hasn’t been identified.
