ANCHORAGE (KTUU) Two Anchorage hockey teams are getting into the Christmas spirit as Dimond and West face off in the Lynx’s 6th annual charity game.
“It’s cool that we can get together like this, and do something bigger than the game,” said, senior defenseman, Sean Gardeline.
Each squad will wear ugly sweater themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off after the game.
Both Dimond and West will be in a friendly competition all night to see who can raise more money for Catholic Social Services’ Clare House.
"The kids buy into the fact being from Anchorage is a small town,” said Dimond’s head hockey coach Dennis Sorenson. “Giving back to the community, helping out when they can, is important and something they’ll take to their adult life."
This is an effort from players that Catholic Social Services says it dearly appreciates.
“It’s so exciting to see young people care about the community, and they are having a great time playing hockey,” said CSS Executive Director, Lisa Aquino.
