ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - For more than two weeks, the family of 19-year-old Juanita Lolesio prayed and hoped for a miracle for their daughter. Lolesio was shot on a party bus on December 30th, 2017.
Monday evening, the Anchorage Police Department said Lolesio has died. Lolesio had a traumatic brain injury from the shooting.
Family, friends and those in support of Juanita Lolesio gathered Sunday afternoon at a prayer vigil, voicing their concerns about violence in Anchorage and praying for a miracle for Juanita.
Erica Lolesio, Juanita's mother, said she would be taken off of life support Monday.
Monday afternoon, Pasha Lolesio wrote in a Facebook message, "[Juanita] received her angel wings and is on her way to eternal life with our Lord."
In an interview last week, Juanita's family asked anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
"I know a lot of kids are not talking but they need to really sit down and talk to their parents as well. Don't be afraid to come out if you know something," said Juan Lolesio, Juanita's father.

APD said this case is being investigated as a homicide. Police department spokesperson Nora Morse said Juanita Lolesio's death is considered as part of the 2017 homicide count.
