Early drizzle but above average temperatures on Wednesday

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - While under partly cloudy skies Wednesday Anchorage warms into the low 70's.

Disturbances that moved through the area yesterday that brought some light showers (less than 1/10th of an inch) will take on more of a northwest to southeast track, from the Northern Matanuska Valley through the Copper River Basin Wednesday. Winds pushing out of the northwest and high pressure moving to the west will decrease the moisture content in the lower levels. Thus, any shower activity should be confined to the Alaska Range (closest to the best source of lift to trigger showers) and the windward side of the mountains of the Mat-Su Valleys and Copper River Basin.

Partly cloudy in Anchorage on Wednesday while we warm up to 74 degrees after some early morning drizzle Wednesday night we drop down to 60 degrees while under mostly cloudy skies.

Partly cloudy on Thursday while we see a high of 75 degrees. Thursday night we drop down to 56 degrees while under mostly cloudy skies.

Looking ahead, Anchorage will be partly cloudy on Friday with a high of 71 degrees.

We hit 70 degrees or warmer for the 43rd time yesterday/Tuesday this summer beating 2013 (42 days of 70 degrees or warmer) so we have an open record with time to spare. Our high of 77 degrees was a high-temperature record on Tuesday as well.
