KETCHIKAN, Alaska (AP) - A former Alaska high school teacher and pastor will be going to prison for sexually abusing a teenage girl at the school, a church and his home.
The Ketchikan Daily News reports 60-year-old Douglas Edwards was sentenced last week to 18 years in prison with 12 years suspended after pleading guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor.
In the plea agreement, the former Ketchikan High School teacher admitted to groping the teen multiple times between August and November 2017.
Prosecutor John Darnall says Edwards took advantage of positions of trust to access the teen.
Edwards was ordered to 10 years of probation following his release from prison. He also will be required to register as a sex offender.
