ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — Fairbanks police are investigating the shooting death of a husky in the parking lot of Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in August.

The investigation began on the night of August 30 after FPD received reports of multiple shots fired at the intersection of 24th Ave and Barnette St. around 10:45 p.m.

Around four hours later, FPD responded to the parking lot of Fairbanks Memorial Hospital Emergency Department for reports of a dog shot inside of a vehicle. Investigators found that a 7-year-old husky named Yukon was shot and killed while sitting in the vehicle parked at FMH.

Ballistic evidence recovered from both scenes revealed that the bullet that struck and killed Yukon came from one of the guns in the earlier shooting.

FPD is asking for anyone with information to contact Lt. Matt Soden at 907-450-6556, or email msoden@fairbanks.us.
