Fairbanks toddler dies in early morning fire Wednesday

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — An early morning trailer park fire claimed the life of a 2-year-old Fairbanks girl Wednesday morning.

According to Alaska State Troopers, a fire at the Gold Rush Estates trailer park was reported to the University Fire Dept. around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday.

AST says an adult man and woman made it out of the trailer without injury, and reported that a young child was still inside the residence.

The temperature at the time was -36°F while University fire crews battled the blaze.

A 2-year-old girl was found deceased in the bedroom of the residence.

She is being taken to the State Medical Examiner's office for autopsy.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation by a Deputy Fire Marshal.
