ANCHORAGE (KTUU) After a long battle with cancer, former Ted Stevens International Airport director and JBER commander, Morton Plumb, has passed away.

His daughter, Anna Plumb, confirmed with Channel 2 News that her father died early Monday morning while receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.

Morton Plumb was the top boss at the airport for 13 years and retired in 2008. His next job was as Chief Operating Officer at First National Bank Alaska.

Anna describes her Dad as a 28 year career military man who served as the Vice Commander of the Alaskan Command and 11th Air Force.

A funeral date has not yet been set but the family says in lieu of flowers donations could be made to the Fisher House of Alaska where Plumb served as a board member.

Morton Plumb was 74 years old.
