ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - We're about a month away from the Municipal election and with that, you want to keep a deadline in mind that is fast approaching.
Anchorage voters can cast their ballots by mail, or by dropping their ballots into approved ballot boxes around Anchorage. (KTUU)
This Sunday, March 3 is the deadline to register to vote if you want your voice heard in this upcoming municipal election on April 2.
You can register a number of ways. First, by heading to the state of Alaska voter registration website.
If you can't register online, you can head to the library, the municipal clerk’s office, the election center or the State of Alaska Division of Elections.
This upcoming vote is a vote by mail election, so if you don't register, you won't receive a ballot and there won't be regular polling places open.
Also, keep in mind, if you moved - you want to make sure your address is up-to-date on your voter registration by the Sunday deadline.
"It's important to keep your voter record accurate because your ballot is going to be mailed in the municipal election to your address of record with the State of Alaska. If you have moved, ballot packages are not forwardable so we won't be able to forward that ballot to your new address,” said Barbara Jones, the Anchorage Municipal Clerk.
Ballots will be mailed by March 12. There are several new ballot drop-off locations. Click here for a list of all the new locations
