ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - A glacial outburst is causing flooding at Mendenhall Lake, Juneau’s most popular viewable glacier.

The U.S. Forest Service is evacuating the Mendenhall Lake Campground, which will be closed until further notice. The Forest Service has also told tour companies on the lake to cancel all of today’s tours.

Hikers are warned to avoid the Nugget Falls Trail and West Glacier Trail, which are also flooding.

The Forest Service says to follow the Visitor Center Facebook Page (post embedded below) to stay up-to-date.
